Game 4 was scheduled for tomorrow, if necessary. It won’t be, though. My tickets will remain in the e-mail they sent to me, soon to be discarded, never to be printed. I won’t have to worry about whether the Yankees and Indians will end tonight, shifting the first pitch Monday at the Big A to 4:30 pm instead of 6:30 pm. My night lecture on Wednesday won’t interfere with any potential Game 5 back at Fenway, and the ALCS tickets I hold… well, they won’t be for either Game 5 (against the Indians) or Game 6 (against the Yankees). Tomorrow, I’ll have a free day that I don’t know what to do with quite yet. Maybe see a movie, maybe lounge around and some reading – it doesn’t really matter. No second shot at Beckett, no redemption for Lackey. Just a load of what ifs, and nothing else. It’s a pretty terrible feeling.
